A Durban Children's Society project providing residential care for orphans and vulnerable children between 6-17 years.
Children are accommodated in six different cottages with 12-14 children in each cottage. The home tries to make suitable arrangements for the children when they turn 18 as they then have to leave the home and are no longer eligible for child support grants. Children from the Edith Benson Babies' Home who are not placed in foster care move to this home on turning seven. The Edith Benson Babies' Home is on the same premises but is now run separately.
william Clark donated four and a half acres of land in Sherwood for the benefit of children. The William Clark Garden's Complex, which included a new Edith Benson Babies' Home, was opened in October 1967.
The Durban Child and Family Welfare Society merged with several other societies to become the Durban Children's Society.
