Siyophila Home Based Care & Orphanage
One of the aims and objectives of Siyophila is to strive towards the prevention of HIV/AIDS infection and the eradication of all forms of violence against women. Currently Siyophila accommodates 23 orphans (between 8 and 18 years old) who are also attending school. Two house mothers take care of the orphans. A social worker visits them once a week.
They also run a "Destitute & Outreach Programme" which entails assisting destitute people with small food parcels which they get from donations from locals. They work hand in hand with social workers to help destitute people apply for social grants and I.D. documents. They assist in placing terminally ill people in hospices.
