A loveLife Youth Centre focussing on peer education and lifeskills, and providing voluntary training and counselling (VCT).
Launched in September 1999, as a partnership of the Health Systems Trust, The Henry J Kaiser Family Foundation, PPASA and the Reproductive Health Research Unit, the loveLife youth centres have become one of the most innovative South African initiatives in adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
The National Adolescent Friendly Clinic Initiative (NAFCI) aims to improve the quality of adolescent health services at the primary care level, and to strengthen the public sector's ability to respond appropriately to adolescent health needs.
The organisation focusses on education through school visits, youth festivals, shows, radio, sports programmes, such as basket ball and soccer, and Cyberwise, a computer programme for youth. It aims to include all members of community, traditional healers and churches and the Born Free Dialogue Programme is directed at encouraging open communication between parents and youth.
