Bethulie Hospice
Providing home-based care for people with terminal illness as well as support for orphans and vulnerable children. The hospice offers palliative care to HIV/AIDS patients as well as to any person suffering from terminal illness. Seriously ill patients are referred through Social Services to Smithfield Hospital.
Art therapy classes are held for orphans and vulnerable children. The hospice also refers children for placement in suitable foster care and provides assistance in accessing social grants.
Regular support groups are held either in creches, schools or at the hospice to provide support to orphans and vulnerable children. Holiday programmes and outings are also provided. Art therapy is used to help the children cope with their situation.
Future plans are projected for adult support groups for HIV-positive people and the teaching of income generating skills.
